LWSD Library Program Mission

To ensure that students are effective users and producers of ideas and information.

The Teacher-Librarian encourages and supports lifelong learning and literacy by maintaining an up-to-date, diverse collection of materials in a variety of formats, by teaching reading and research information skills which result in self-reliant and critical users of information, by promoting a love of reading and by supporting curriculum with instructional resources.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books is an optional program offered to students in Grades 4 & 5 to promote reading.

Students - you will be introduce to the books chosen for this year in October Library classes but you can start reading over the summer! Plan to read as many of the titles as you can. You will form teams of up to four classmates. Teams will compete by answering questions with the title of one of the books.

The list for the Battle of the Books includes titles from this year's Young Reader’s Choice Nominees and the Sasquatch Award Nominees.
