Kindergarten

Welcome! We are so excited that your child will be coming to Clara Barton for kindergarten.  Our staff is passionate about giving each child a fantastic start to their education.  We strongly believe in building relationships prior to school starting, and so we have several events we plan each year. Here's a rough timeline of the process each year.

Last Week of August -- Kindergarten Skills Meetings

The week before school starts, families will receive an email to sign up for a 20 minute time slot with one of our kindergarten teachers or support staff. 

This appointment will be a fun, informal, and interactive way for your child to meet with one of our kindergarten teachers and staff. It will also help us begin getting to know your child and their strengths as we prepare for our year together. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate any foundational academic skills they currently possess and show what they are ready to learn this year. 

The team will use the information gathered to build balanced classes to ensure a successful transition into kindergarten. There is nothing you need to prepare for or bring.

First Week of September -- Kindergarten Family Connections

By appointment, check your email for sign up instructions. This is a family conference with your student's teacher so we can get to know each other at the beginning of the school year.

First/Second Week of September -- First day of kindergarten!
